To go to Sougia from Chania you will follow the road to Alikiano and then you will pass through the villages of Skine, Prase, Semprona, Epanochori, Agia Irini, Moni, to finally reach Sougia. The distance is about 70 km and you will need about 1.5 hours.
The route will compensate you as the road passes through the plain with the orange trees in Alikianos, from the village of Agia Irini, from where the homonymous green gorge begins and through picturesque villages and slopes full of olive trees and oaks you face the south coast of Khan Prefecture .
If you are in Paliochora and you want to visit Sougia, there is an asphalt road that connects the 2 villages and passes through Temenia and Rodovani. On the map the distance seems very short but it will take you 30 – 45 minutes to reach Sougia. You can also go to Sougia by boat daily (April – October) and enjoy the sea route. You can do the same from Chora Sfakion, Loutro and Agia Roumeli.
Sougia is the ideal place to stay for rest and relaxation. It is an access point to the Samaria Gorge and the Agia Irini Gorge. It is the ideal place for experienced and adventurous hikers of Southern Crete.

PENSION IRENE is a small family business located in the center of the village. There is a market, restaurant, cafe just 10 meters from our boarding house, the bus stop is 20 meters, the beach is 50 meters and the public parking is 60 meters. In one of the most beautiful areas of Crete in Sougia-Chania. It is about 1 hour and 30 minutes from the city of Chania. A starting point to visit the gorge of Samaria and the gorge of Agia Irini. It is a perfect place for experienced adventurous hikers who want to explore Southern Crete
